As an author, it's easy to get discouraged when you don't see the sales results you're expecting from your books. Each time I put out another #ElenaRansom adventure I think the sales will explode, but that hasn't happened yet.
In addition, when I can't get people to review my books on Amazon it's discouraging. But then, a sweet note in my mailbox can cause hope to stir in my heart. You see, my average readers are between 9-12 years old. These readers don't have access to the internet the way adults do. So, typically, I don't hear from them.
But that doesn't mean what I write doesn't impact them. Here's a recent hand written note and review from an 11-year-old:
And my response? A hand-written "thank you" note with a bookmark and free bag.
I love receiving fan mail. It's SO VERY encouraging. If you have a child that's too young to leave a review on Amazon, please feel free to have them write me at:

Dear Epic Inkers,
I felt out of place as a teen...more than once. But the truth is, we're only as alone as we choose to be. I'm not saying it's easy to make friends or feel connected with people, but don't be discouraged!
